Peachtree Corners-Around And About This Gwinnett County City

Up until the 1960s, the area that is now Peachtree Corners was just rural farmland. However, by 1967, a man named Paul Duke chose to build a community he would later name Peachtree Corners where people could live and work in a quality-controlled environment outside of Norcross.

With help from investors of Georgia Tech, Duke proceeded to build a $1.7 million business center that would raise money for a Georgia Tech foundation, as well as bring jobs to the area. After adding businesses to the area, Duke's next goal was to add residential structures to the city.

Jim Cowart, who was hired by Duke to build these neighborhoods, had previous experience around the Atlanta area as a home builder and turned Duke's dreams into realty. Eventually the area became heavily inhabited and developed an organization by the name of United Peachtree Corners Civic Association (UPCCA). The group was basically an umbrella body of many Home Owner Associations in the area. By 2010, the UPCCA pursued an official incorporation of Peachtree Corners as a city, and it was approved in 2012.
